GWR Police Pocket Book / Warrant Card Holder

Dick Evans, who many of you will remember as the long serving Detective Sergeant at Reading BTP, has kindly donated this GWR Pocketbook to the History Group.

Many thanks to him.

Dick says:

“In approximately 1973 I was given a leather-bound gold embossed Great Western Railway pocketbook / warrant card holder bearing the number 485. Inside is an authority to act as a Special Constable dated April 1921 relating to Special Constable Leslie Shaw who was working out of I assume Newport High Street in Monmouthshire, Wales. It is signed by two Justices of the Peace and is in excellent condition.
I have held onto it for over 40 years.”
